Welcome to March & Welcome new subscribers!

Here at PLUGOarts (the digital manifestation of my art room) March is the month of Pisces & Green Birthday Cakes (not so many green cakes anymore - but I've had plenty). so my latest MUSEletter has some special announcements, I've been excitedly working on them. But first, my favorite thing;  a new comic –

As I celebrate another turn of the year, I keep one of my older surviving piece of original art framed and just a glance away. It's a drawing of the X-Men with some original characters created in 7th grade. Other pieces are much newer. Having benefited from appearances in gallery shows they occupy most of the available wall space I live among. But I have more art than wall space, so in order to make way for the new, I've made the decision to make pieces, which may never previously been for sale, available on my newest online platform PLUGO.art.

All this work building an online store hasn't kept me from attempting to go one step further. That's what has me setting up an absurd live high-wire (not really) act.
A live art auction in celebration of ⬛️⬛️ years on this planet!

Assuming I can get all the tech details sorted - OBS vs. iOS etc. I'll be launching this auction Online on the platform Whatnot.com Sunday March 16th beginning at 2:PM PST | 5:PM EST - there might be a performance part including the opening up one of my framed gallery prints and the live coloring of it. So - lots to do... 🤞🏽

As I've mentioned elsewhere - I've only just returned from the 2025 Power of BiPOC POP symposium hosted by Professor LatinX himself, Director & Founder professor Frederick Luis Aldama at the University of Texas in Austin. The academic rigor on display and applied to comics scholarship was formidable. It was presented alongside hands/on workshops (like mine - I had 11 students attend) and an artist’s alley. This set-up of Theory, Practice & Result truly took this event above and beyond any other I’d attended before. I got to rub elbows and dine with greats like Jaime Hernandez, Lalo Alcaraz, John Jennings & Ngozi Ukazu. Plus I was surprised and delighted to come across an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of one of the two anthologies my work will be appearing in this year.

The notes alone will make for a few in-depth newsletter & blog posts. And I haven’t even started on the connections and ambitious plans already in the works for 2025-26. But for now, you can vicariously experience my reaction to seeing this very personal story in print.
