PLUGOarts PLUGO: artist • comics • illustration (scbwi)

Hi {name},
I hope you won’t mind considering this an early addition of my usual Musesletter. I still intend to produce something more interesting as the month of July progresses, but there are just so many things happening, I wanted to reach out to you early.

I might’ve mentioned my ongoing pursuit of interesting freelance projects. This latest one is a fusion of my two favorite kinds of gig: Record Album Cover and Comic. As of today (June 30th) the very talented musician, Ezra Gale is launching a Kickstarter Campaign to finance this fusion project.

It’s a Double Album + Comic Anthology: each track has a corresponding comic. The only thing more exciting to me than the theme of the art I contributed, is the fact that I am also illustrating this project’s cover. It’s not 100% finish for reasons that are explained within the campaign.

It would be a great help to us both if you simply clicked on over to check out the campaign's opening day. Even without pledging to contribute I believe that click well help the algorithms push this project towards success. That’s my logic anyway. Of course sharing it on social media always helps, and if you're inspired to help out, let me know.

In other good news physical therapy for my injured hand continues to show results. There are still certain things I can’t hold in that hand nor can I make a fist. But that’ll change over time. While on the topic of throwing punches I had the good fortune of hearing from a colleague whom I admire greatly: Kung Fu Master Sifu Kisu. You may recognize his work if you’ve ever seen an episode of Avatar the Last Airbender. This is the master behind all element bending and he invited me to an epic kung fu seminar (July 11: Seattle, WA.).  I won't make it but I think there are kung fu enthusiasts who'll jump at the chance at training with the original Master Bender.

On the more meditative side coincidence, or synchronicity has me returning to an article written by longtime colleague in the mysterious. Published in issue #1 of the UK-based zine WYRD the article Hand Runes by Magnus Stoke maps Norse runes to individual digits of the hand. Not my usual form of prognostication, but it’s made for an interesting subject of contemplation during PT sessions.

This work to restore my hand has lead to increases in my creative output. So in gratitude for you taking the time to read this missive, I hope you'll enjoy this short comic. It started as pen sketch of my loyal companion Milo, but the story wrote itself in real-time. I call it Cheese Ball?
