You know I don't normally send missives out in such rapid succession.  But yesterday's MUSEletter needs a major correction –

Yesterday's missive was a rare example of working in advance - rather than writing-the-night-before. I made a big deal about the Asani Entertainment website launching on Wednesday May 15th - Today. Alas, in the time since scheduling yesterday's MUSEletter, that date has been pushed back.

I'm not doing the build myself, we're relying on external design services, so even the most minute changes or corrections take extra time. A very different experience from the usual "do it myself" approach. If you visit AsaniEntertainment.com today, you'll find the landing page I actually did build myself. You can still sign up for its official newsletter Habari Gani. The crew is putting a lot of hard work into it, so... if you haven't checked it out, feel free to.

As a thank you, let me pull back the curtain on The Asaniverse. Read on to see what initially peaked my interest in this project.

The Asaniverse is AsaniSurreal, derived from the male Swahili name, Asani (pronounced aa-SAA-nee), meaning rebellious.

AsaniSurreal is an Afrocentric, postmodern synthesis of alternate history, epic fantasy, horror, mythology, science fiction, superhero, and urban fantasy.

AsaniSurreal will interrogate the past, critique the present, speculate on the future, and revise, reinvigorate, and reimagine the genre. AsaniSurreal will appeal to fans of Afrofuturism, Black Panther, Blade, Blade Runner, Blaxploitation Movies, Lovecraft Country, The Matrix, and The Watchmen TV series.
