Original art from the award winning picture book Little Monk and the Mantis<\/em>, will be a feature display at the 35th Annual Children’s Book Illustrator’s Exhibition<\/strong> hosted by the Sun Gallery. This event will have include a Spotlight on 30 Years of Tiger\u2019s Tale<\/em>. Both books will be available for purchase as well as Let\u2019s Go!: A Kids Comics Studio Anthology<\/em>, From Cocinas to Lucha Libre Ringsides<\/em>: A Latinx Comics Anthology<\/em>, Lucy Veloz: High Flying Princes<\/em> and Undead Kungfu Ghost Killer<\/em> #1<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s exhibit has been a labor of love by long-time members of the Sun Gallery. The show was spearheaded by Valerie Caveglia<\/a>, Hayward Education Foundation President (and former Executive Director at the Sun), and Dorsi Diaz, Sun Gallery Board of Directors President (and former Executive Director\/Curator at the Sun).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with the Hayward Rotary Club, the Hayward Education Foundation and the community at large. The Sun presents the Many Hands, One Masterpiece <\/em><\/strong>initiative to school district second graders. In order to expand equitable access to the arts, we are introducing underserved students to this legacy children’s book illustrator exhibition and fostering cultural awareness through storytelling, visual interpretation, and shared creative experiences. I am developing a comic creating class for this project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gallery is open Friday and Saturday from 11-4, and admission is free to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
