As I learn more about such digital tools as perspective rulers and 3D models, I find myself thinking back to the various shortcuts and work-arounds I’ve used to “eye-ball” perspective to greater or lesser degrees. Sometimes a proper perspective drawing is both unavoidable and worth the effort. However, there are times when a distorted psuedo-perspective is better for story telling purposes, or perhaps it’s about maintaining key background or architectural elements with-in a scene but not wanting that effort to eclipse the foreground characters or actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following example I have used some images from the graphic novel series Locke & Key<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After pasting the floorplan image onto it’s own layer, a copy ios kept in the clipboard while a new black layer is created (layer 3)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
