  1. This was a lot of fun. I can’t help but feel like some of it had me specifically in mind. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it. In computer science we talk about breadth-first-search vs. depth-first-search which the searching reminded me of. I tend to do everything search (I guess that’s exhaustive search). I like how the story acknowledges that not everyone has the same definition of what it means to gain ground. It can be something different for different people, and it may not look like progress to someone else.

    1. Andrew,
Our conversations were key to this comic, particularly with formulating those differences; length, depth, volume and “spiral(?)” But the real challenge was in trying to write is so that anyone/everyone reading it, could identify with one aspect of it or another. But that part about Deep Volume (and the image of someone floating in a cube) you can totally take credit for!

      1. This was great! Loved it! Glad you and Andrew had those convos that brought us this piece of awesomeness!! 🙂

  2. I suppose I should only speak for myself, but I imagine the message in this piece shows a universal aspect of the human condition – we are always striving for something (even something we haven’t yet identified!), or reflecting on our progress (or lack thereof, if we are in a self-critical mood). I, too, was thinking of my own struggles while reading this, and appreciate the reminder to celebrate any positive steps taken, and to look for “surprise opportunities in uncharted terrain.”
