Bert Tzeng calls himself a Part-time creator, full-time cat dad. His in-the works graphic novel is titled Solaa’s Order. As a side effect of the two of us having work in LET’s GO! A Kids Comics Studio Anthology and the themes evident in his work, I suggested we try a character swap. We would each take a turn depicting the other’s character.

Here’s a bit of what he had to say about working on the Tiger Princes Puah, kan & Chen.
Adding the tiger’s stripes (which I had put off until this step) turned out to be a “less is more” exercise, laying down enough lines to suggest stripes without going overboard, especially around the head and face.

For my part I ended up down a rabbit hole of research deciding Solaa should be depicted struggling through her martial practice. An what form would be more appropriate for an apprentice monk that the classics Shaolin Tongzigong!?

Both of our comics will be appearing in our new anthology. Let’s Go! A Kids Comic Studio Anthology launches Live on Kickstarter Today! April 22nd – Earth Day! Over the past year, I & 30 other comic creators have been assembling what I think is a truly unique comic project. I think you’ll really enjoy this comic and invite you to give the campaign a visit!
