I’ve written previously about the Spring-time opportunity which blossomed into into the epic Summer project called The Crowdfunding Crucible. It all began with the invitation to present a crowdfunding/accountability type workshop for the community at Kids Comics Unite. After some brief development, that presentation became the workshop Crowdfunding: 5 Helpful Hacks with Patrick Lugo
The outstanding success of this workshop lead directly into teaching the 6 week course Crowdfunding Crucible. I wrote a bit about it in May but mostly focused on the writing involved for the course material itself. But the official Kids Comics Unite newsletter had this to say about it.
Ready to launch your crowding funding campaign? You’re not alone! A number of KCU members have already signed up to participate in Crowdfundr’s Kids and YA Spotlight this summer.

If you’re still feeling daunted, Patrick Lugo announced at the crowdfunding workshop on Saturday that he’s leading a 6-week coaching program starting May 25th: Crowdfunding Crucible!
Each week Patrick will cover in real-time what will need to be accomplished, breaking everything down into doable steps. The programs includes templates, critiques, checklists and homework. And you’ll be sharing ideas and moving forward together with other creators who are focusing on the same goal.
Patrick will also coach each student through a one-on-one video recording session (15 minutes) from which you can create your crowdfunding video.
In other words, Patrick will walk you through the whole process. By the end of the final week, you’ll be ready to go live with your launch!
The Crowdfunding Crucible ran from May 25 to June 29 2023 and lead directly into the Crowdfundr.com Kids & Y.A. Creator spotlight. You can see the variety of projects represented in this spotlight at the above link, but I’d like to specificly direct you to review the outstanding successes represented in the following campaigns all of which were brought forth with the support of the KCU Crowdfunding Crucible.
